April 27: Pancake Breakfast & Opening Day Join the Greene County Historical Society for its Opening Day festivities including a Pancake Breakfest from 8:00 am to 12;00 pm featuring Buckwheat, Buttermilk and Corn Pancakes with saugages and a variety of beverages. After the breakfast, join the museum at 1:00pm for its annual member meeting with guest speakers to be announced. Breakfast will be $6.00 for Adults and $3.00 for Children. The meeting and talk is open to current members and prospective members. If you have not yet joined please visit our sign up form or stop by the museum. May 28: Kelly Miller Circus The Kelly Miller Circus coming to town for two shows , 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm on Tuesday May 28th at the Greene County Fairgrounds. It is a family friendly event that will awaken the child in all of us with spectacular performers and exotic animals under the classic Big Top Tent. Tickets availble at the Greene County Historical Society Museum. Call (724) 627-3204 for more information. June 9: 2013 Garden Party Come join the Greene County Historical Society for a day filled with beautiful flowers, insightful information from Kim Stoll of the Greene County Soap Company about her homemade soaps, joyful music of the Blair family and Autumn Laskody and great food. The 2013 Garden Party will be held on Sunday June 9th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and admission is $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the gate. June 23: Ice Cream Social The Greene County Historical Society will be hosting an ice cream social on Sunday June 23rd 2013 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Greene County Historical Society Museum. Beat the summer heat and join us for a day of fun and ice cream.
September 20: Opening Reception of the Governor Martin Special Exhibit The Greene County Historical Society will be hosting an evening reception for the opening day of our special exhibit honoring Governor Edward Martin's 70th anniversary as Governor of the Commonwealth. Doors open at 6:30pm and will conclude at 8:30pm. Light refreshments will be served. Admissions:TBA October 12 & 13: 42st Harvest Festival The highlight of every season here at the museum in the annual Harvest Festival. This year will be our 42nd year of offering Greene County the best in local craftsmen, food, performers and vendors as well as living history demonstrators recreating the rich history of Greene County through a agricultral demonstrations, a 18th century tavern and everyone's favorite, the Civil War skirmish. The 42nd Annual Harvest Festival will be October 12th & 13th from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm on both days. Admission: $5.00
November 23, 24 & 30 and December 1: GCHS Christmas Open House Celebrate the holiday season a little early this year at the annual GCHS Christmas Open House. As in years past, we will adorn the museum in a wonderful array of holiday decorations with train displays and a Christmas tree decorating contest. Candlelight tours and seasonal goodies will be availible during each evenings event. The Christmas Open House will be from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on both weekends and as always admission is free.
