Annual Harvest Festival

The museum grounds will be full of local artisans with a variety of crafts and wares including; handmade baskets, soap, candles, antique glass, cedar birdhouses, hand crafted knives, honey, seasonal and gift items, and much more.

For the hungry visitor, soup beans & cornbread and fresh grilled sandwiches will be available plus great snacks including fresh Donuts, apple dumplings, cider, funnel cakes and delicious baked goods.

The local 140th PA. Volunteers will be on site as will the 1st Virginia Regiment. Both of these groups are family oriented living history encampments and encourage all family members to participate. They will each have special presentations each day with times announced at the event.

Native American, Ghost in the Head, will also be camped out for the weekend ready to show and tell visitors how the Native People in the area lived.

Greene Rural Heritage, a local Draft Horse & Mule organization, will give their hard working draft horse teams a break this year and instead they will demonstrate their skills of early farming techniques with early farm tractors. A threshing Machine demonstration will also be held both days with the time to be announced that weekend.

The Waynie of the Waynesburg & Washington Railroad will be out on display and Jim Weinschenker will have an exhibit in the Museum.

George Blystone of Jacobs Birdhouse Company will be in the exhibit area to explain the wonderful history of this company and the many benefits of attracting birds to your backyard.

The Lippincott Alpacas are making their first appearance at the Festival and the Galings will be happy to educate you on these adorable animals. Several beautiful items made from Alpaca wool will be available for sale.

The Warrior Trail Association will be here with updates on the trail, trail information and memorabilia. Please stop by and support this volunteer organization and their efforts to preserve this unique historic asset of our County. Another local group that will be here that deserves and needs support is the Humane Society of Greene County. Please stop by and talk with them, and if you are considering adopting a dog or cat, Festival weekend would be a great time to do it.

Entertainment, held in the Museum barn, will include Mr. G. Elston Brown with fun antics, magic and storytelling, and local talent Chuck Villers will also be singing a few songs each day. Of course Mr. Scare Crow will be out wandering the grounds enlightening festival goers of his duties and life theories.

Other exhibits and demonstrations include the Antique Reid Engine, Coal Mining collection of Brice & Linda Rush, and a printing demonstration in the Museum Print Shop utilizing equipment from the 1800's.

Admission is $3.00 adults, $2.00 Children 6-14.

Museum is located at 918 Rolling Meadows Road, 3 miles east of Waynesburg, just minutes off I-79.
